PLASTFOIL® polymer waterproofing has found a new use and has become indispensable in the construction of tunnels and other underground structures. Its high biostability, flexibility, durability and tensile strength which mean it can be used in places of increased load, including tunnel passages.
Waterproofing is of paramount importance for structures below the groundwater level, and its minimum damage can lead to major leakages. Based on these risks, the only reliable waterproofing solutions to be applied against hydrostatic water pressure – are the solutions which make it possible to quickly identify, localize and eliminate possible leakages.
For efficient operation of the waterproofing system with the use of the polymer membrane (which has no adhesion with the insulated structure) there is a recovery system of water-resisting properties of structures, including waterstops, control and injection fittings, tubes.
The coils of PLASTFOIL® polymer membrane are welded together with hot air by using manual or automatic welding equipment (average welding temperature is 500ºC). In the implementation of waterproofing for underground structures and facilities with a high degree of responsibility, welded joints between the membrane plates is double-checked with compressed air, which ensures the reliability of the welded joint.
The use of polymer membranes for the protection of tunnels significantly prolongs the service life of reinforced concrete structures. PLASTFOIL® is a material specially developed for the implementation of waterproofing tunnels and large hydraulic structures, taking into account the experience of development of the world’s leading manufacturers of polymer materials.
The reliability of waterproofing systems for tunnel structures with the use of polymer membranes is confirmed by long-term experience of underground structures in operation and superstructures Europe and the Russian Federation.
